The Hindu Vocabulary For Bank Exams

Massacre=> हत्यािाण्ड , नरसंहार
Massacre=>the violent and cruel killing of a large number of people.


Horrific=> ब हु त बेिार

Horrific=> causing horror or shock.


Province=> प्रदेश
Province=>an area of activity or authority.


Underscore=> जोर देना
Underscore=>to emphasize (something) or show the importance of (something).

The horrific suicide attack at a Sufi shrine in Sehwan in Pakistan’s Sindh province that killed at least 80 people, underscores fears about the Islamic State gaining strength in the country.


Shrine=> तीथग स्थान
Shrine=> a place connected with a holy person or event where people go to worship.


Venerate=> आ द र िरना
Venerate=> to show deep respect for.

A suicide bomber blew himself up at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, among the most venerated of Sufi saints. 


Flock=> झु ण् ड , जानवरों िा स मू ह
Flock=>a group of animals living or kept together .


Syncretism=> समन्वयता
Syncretism=>the combination of different forms of belief or practice.

People of all faiths in the subcontinent have flocked here over the centuries, making it a prominent symbol of syncretism, and thereby a particularly potent target for the IS. 


Promptly=>Prompt=> जल्दी
Promptly=>Prompt=> done at once : given without delay .

However, attacks such as this, which the IS promptly took responsibility for, suggest otherwise.


Methodically=> क्रमबद्ध ढंग से
Methodically=> working in a very careful and organized way.

In Iraq and Syria the IS has methodically targeted Shias, Alawis, Kurds and Yazidis. .


Mystical=> रहस्यवादी
Mystical=>having a spiritual meaning that is difficult to see or understand.


Loathe=> घृ णा िरना
Loathe=>to dislike greatly.

Pakistan, particularly, has a rich Sufi tradition, a mystical and generally moderate form of Islam that is loathed by fundamentalists. 


Brutally=> क्रू र ता से
Brutally=>Brutal=> very bad or unpleasant.

In 2010, Lahore’s Data Darbar shrine had been brutally attacked.


Whip up=>कोड़ा
 Whip up=>to cause or create (something).


Sectarian=> सांप्रदानयि
Sectarian=> of, relating to, or characteristic of a sect or sectarian.

The highly planned, well-publicised attacks on Shias in these countries helped the IS whip up Sunni sectarian sentiment and win recruits. 


Align=> पंक्ति में करना
Align=> to arrange things so that they form a line or are in proper position.

But IS fighters in eastern Afghanistan, where the group has established a province of the ‘Caliphate’, and those in Pakistan seem to have aligned themselves with local terror groups for organisational support. 


Ferociously=>भयानकता के साथ
Ferocious=> very fierce or violent.


Breakaway=>
Breakaway=> having become separate from a larger group, country, etc. : having broken away.


Faction=> गु ट
Faction=>a group within a larger group that has different ideas and opinions than the rest of the group.


Tactical=> नीनतगत
Tactical=>of, relating to, or used for a specific plan that is created to achieve a particular goal in war, politics, etc..

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a ferociously anti-Shia group, and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a breakaway faction of the Pakistani Taliban, are two such groups that reportedly have a tactical alliance with the IS. 


Dismantle=> विघटित
Dismantle=>to take completely apart (as for storing or repair).

After the massacre in an army school in Peshawar in 2014 that left more than 140 dead, the security forces had finally turned against the Pakistani Taliban and dismantled parts of their terror network.


Vicious=> क्रू र तापू ण ग
Vicious=>very violent and cruel.


Sectarian=> सांप्रदानयि
If the Pakistan Taliban are on the back foot, others are coming forward with a more vicious, sectarian worldview and firepower.


Comprehensive=> व्याप

Tragedies such as Thursday’s are a reminder that Pakistan needs a more comprehensive action plan against terrorism.
