Government of India, Govt. of Tripura and National Liberation Front of Twipra (NLFT- SD) Sign Memorandum of Settlement
A Memorandum of Settlement was signed here today on 10th of August, 2019 by the Government of India, Govt. of Tripura and National Liberation Front of Twipra led by Sabir Kumar Debbarma (NLFT-SD).
NLFT has been banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act since 1997 and has been involved in violence, operating from their camps across the international border. NLFT has been responsible for violent activities including 317 insurgency incidents in which 28 security forces and 62 civilians lost their lives during the period 2005-2015. Peace talks with NLFT were initiated in 2015 and there has been no violence by NLFT since 2016.
NLFT (SD) has agreed to abjure the path of violence, join the mainstream and abide by the Constitution of India. It has agreed to the surrender of its 88 cadres with their weapons. The surrendered cadres will be given surrender benefits as per the Surrender-cum-Rehabilitation Scheme, 2018 of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The State Government of Tripura will help the surrendered cadres in housing, recruitment, education etc. Government of India will consider the proposals of Tripura State Government regarding economic development of tribal areas of Tripura
DineOut acquires Binge Digital
Restaurant technology company Dineout announced its acquisition of Binge Digital, a Delhi-based food tech firm that helps restaurants up-sell and increase ticket size with the help of analytics and video menus.
Binge allows diners to access a restaurant’s menu in video format at the table itself, utilising diner’s data and patterns. The platform also provides in-depth information about the menu at restaurants in addition to restaurant discovery services.
TCS launches robotic solutions for semiconductor industry
TCS has set up a new Semiconductor Centre of Excellence (CoE) to design and build closed-loop systems that combine the power of analytics and automation to reimagine the semiconductor fabrication (fab) value chain. Specialists at this CoE are creating solutions that will enable production robots, powered with intelligent algorithms, to respond to heterogeneous scenarios to improve quality and accuracy throughout the semiconductor manufacturing process.
IIT-H start-up launches interactive rehabilitation tool
BeAble Health, a start-up incubated at IIT-Hyderabad’s Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE), has launched ‘Arm Able,’ an interactive arm training device offering a solution for arm rehabilitation.
“It will help stroke victims and motor rehabilitation of victims with upper limb motor deficit due to conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury and fractures,”BeABle founder Habib Ali, a Biomedical Engineer and Roboticist, said. The tool was launched to mark the graduation of third batch of CfHE Fellows.
Andhra Pradesh govt will launch Navodayam scheme
Andhra Pradesh government launched the Navodayam scheme. The scheme is for thousands of ailing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.Navodayam will provide a lifeline to stressed MSMEs by ensuring that all eligible units are permitted for the one-time restructuring of accounts up to March 31, 2020. About 86,000 MSMEs in the state have been identified for restructuring under Navodayam with an outlay of Rs 3,900 crore.
Amla retires from international cricket
South African batsman Hashim Amla retired from all international cricket. Amla played 124 Tests, 181 ODIs and 44 T20Is between his 15-year-long cricketing career. The score is more than 18,000 runs, including 55 centuries and 88 other scores in excess of 50. Hashim Mohammed Amla OIS is a former South African international cricketer who played for South Africa in all three formats of the game.
US approves multi mission Seahawk helicopters to South Korea
The US government has approved the sale of 12 multi-mission Seahawk helicopters to South Korea worth $800 million. The announcement was made after the US President Donald Trump announced that South Korea had agreed to pay more for US military presence in their country.
The proposal will improve the Republic of Korea Navy’s capability to perform anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions.

Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee was awarded the Bharat Ratna
The Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India, at Rashtrapati Bhawan. He was awarded by the President Ram Nath Kovind. The award recognizes his selfless service to the nation for decades. He is the fifth President to receive the award.
Kerala signs MoU with ISRO VSSC to promote space technology in state
The Kerala government and Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to give a push to the state’s endeavour in space technology. The agreement signed by State IT Secretary M Sivasankar and VSSC Director S Somanath. It was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan VSSC and the Kerala Government joining hands for the project, Kerala is set to make major strides in the space technology sector.
NITI Aayog to launch the th Edition of WTI Awards
NITI Aayog launched the 4th Edition of Women Transforming India (WTI) Awards. The WTI Awards is being organized in collaboration with the United Nations to recognize women entrepreneurs from across India. This year’s theme is ‘Women and Entrepreneurship’, in continuation of the theme for WTI Awards 2018. WhatsApp collaborated with NITI Aayog for WTI Awards 2019. The main aim is to provide support amounting to US$100,000 to the award winners.
